On the 28^th June, 2012, the National REDD+ Steering Committee meeting was organized at MARD under the chairmanship of Mr. Cao Duc Phat, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Head of the National REDD+ Steering Committee. The main objective of the meeting is to discuss and revise the proposal of UN – REDD Viet Nam Programme (Phase 2).

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Cao Duc Phat concluded that:

• VNFOREST was assigned to take lead to work with donors and three related agencies of United Nations to obtain agreement on management and implementation plan of Phase 2 to ensure the effectiveness of the Programme and to improve Vietnam's national self- determination and self-control during the implementation of Programme.
• VNFOREST takes lead to cooperate with national relevant agencies and three recognized United Nations organizations to finalize the Phase II - Programme proposal and submit to the international UN-REDD Programme Secretariat and Norway’s Government soon.
• VNFOREST was assigned to work with the International Cooperation Department of MARD in preparing a draft Letter of Agreement on Funding, which will be signed between MARD and an equivalent agency of Norway.
